Considering writing more

I constantly think about writing. I also think about making art. I suppose in many respects these are one and the same.

I wonder what it is that stops me from doing anything creative lately. A lack of focus? Likely. Loss of creativity? Possibly. Laziness? Definitely.

When I started this blog it was partially as a jokey response to the emergence of Twitter and the like; with a constant barrage of up to the minute, “microblogging” where would the idea of a daily, or weekly, update of your life exist? I thought it would be fun and humorous. Of course, now it’s nothing.

Thinking about this now gives me new incentive, I hope, to continue doing something even remotely creative. Whether it’s writing (which, for me, is the easiest outlet), drawing, or something else.

Come at me, life. I’m ready.

Sniffling.

Got a cold and my tired old head can’t think properly. There’s a pile of toilet paper covered in delicious snot in front of me. Taking some DayQuil and going to work, like a FUCKING TROOPER.

Starting a New Job

Really quick post: Today I’m starting my new job at Bootlegger’s Brewery in Fullerton. It’s serving beer to start, who knows what may come in the future. Excited and nervous, but I think it’ll be fun. I helped out for a couple hours the other day and it was a good time. I’ll have to readjust to working nights though. I get sleepytime by 8pm.

Falling Behind in Everything

I haven’t blogged in a while. I haven’t felt the urge to, which is a shame. The last few months have been all about finding a job (with the exception of a couple of weeks of hanging Xmas lights for more money). I suppose I should be blogging about my job search, but I feel like that should be kept a little bit low key. There are a couple decent leads right now, so cross your fingers for me. Or better yet, give me a job.

Catching Up On New Music

I have a tendency to get attached to a few albums and stick with those for a while. For the next week I’m going to attempt to only listen to new things that I’ve never heard before. Suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. I’ll attempt to do some quick reviews as well, for what it’s worth. Come on people, open up your Spotifys to me!

Applying for Pabst’s Social Media Community Manager

Recently, the lovely people at America’s largest American owned brewery, Pabst Brewing Company posted a job opening as Social Media Community Manager in Los Angeles.

Naturally, after spotting this, I polished up my resume and wrote a concise, spirited cover letter and sent it off through the tubes for consideration.

Afterwards, I sent a tweet to @PBR_USA, the official Twitter for Pabst Blue Ribbon, the company’s flagship brand, letting them know I applied and was excited for the opportunity.

Then, a couple days later I thought, wait, I should really push this through social media channels. I avidly use Facebook and Twitter, in both my private life — which ends up being populated by goofy things I think about, or chronicles of what my beautiful wife Sarah is watching on TV behind me — and as an ambassador for Ice Cream Man. Within minutes I had set up a Facebook page encouraging people to support my quest for this job, started using a custom hashtag #Gooch4PBR on Twitter and registered Gooch4PBR.com to redirect to the Facebook page.

My thoughts were simple: If this is a job managing social media, why not use social media to show how eminently qualified I was?

Well, here I am, hopefully things will work out, it absolutely is a perfect fit for myself and for Pabst, a brand I absolutely love and can attest for.

Dreaming about movies

So, I had this dream a while ago about a film noir-type movie.

Note: I never finished this post but I’m uploading it anyway
